City draws Hamburg in UEFA Europa League quarterfinals

Manchester City drew high-flying Bundesliga club, SV Hamburg, for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League at the UEFA Europa League draw on Friday.

Hamburg are currently in the chase for the league title in Germany, and showed their ability by edging out former Galatasary in a last minute win in Turkey in the second leg of their round of 16 tie.

“We are getting to the exciting end of the tournament now and we have got some big players in our changing room,” City ‘keeper Shay Given told the Associated Press. “The closer we get to the final, the more they will be right up for it.”

The winner of the Manchester City/SV Hamburg tie will proceed to a semifinal against one of Udinese or Werder Bremen.

The other quarterfinals will see Paris St Germain take on Dynamo Kiev, while Shakhtar Donetsk will take on Marseille. The draw sets up a possible final clash between Manchester City and French giants Paris St. Germain.

The UEFA Europa League quarterfinals kick off on the 9th of April, with the second leg of this stage scheduled for the 16th of April.
