City cleared for Kaka talks
Manchester City have been given the all-clear to negotiate with AC Milan forward and 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year, Kaka.
“Milan has authorized the negotiation with City,” Diogo Kotscho, Kaka’s spokesman, told the BBC. “The next step is Kaka’s father will talk to Manchester City.”
Kaka will meet with Manchester City officials next week, in talks that could see one of the world’s finest forwards teaming up with Brazilian star Robinho in a world class attack partnership at the Manchester-based club.
According to reports Kaka has stated that he will only join the club if it puts together a squad capable of breaking into the top four of the Premiership next season. A top four finish would be required to give Manchester City a run in the Champions League.
Should the deal between AC Milan and Manchester City go through, Kaka’s transfer is expected to cost the club’s backers 100 million pounds, 70 million pounds more than was paid for star Brazilian striker Robinho.
“We believe the deal is very close,” Manchester City assistant manager Mark Bowen told the BBC. “We are selling the future plans of the club to the player.”
