Bumper night of UEFA Europa League football ahead

European football fans can look forward to a massive buffet of European club football action tonight, as dozens of clubs throughout Europe clash in the first round of the 2008 UEFA Europa League.

Aston Villa will be in action in one of the evening’s first fixtures as they take on Bulgarian side FC Litex Lovech. William Hill have priced Villa 4/5 favourites to defeat the Bulgarian Cup champions, who enter the match priced 7/2.

FA Cup champions Portsmouth will be the next English team in action on Thursday evening as they take on Portuguese club Guimaraes. With home advantage, Portsmouth are priced 1/2 favourites to win in the first round, while Guimaraes are 13/2 underdogs.

Playing at the same time as Portsmouth will be Manchester City, who come up against Greek club Omonia Nicosia. At a price of 9/2 Omonia is not expected to trouble City, with the Manchester club going into the match as a 4/6 favourite to win in William Hill’s UEFA Europa League betting markets.

Everton have a tough task ahead of them when they take on Belgian side Standard Liege at Goodison Park. Everton are 3/4 favourites to turn their home advantage into a win with William Hill, while a decent Liege side are priced generously at 18/5.
