City back in action against FC Streymur

Over 60 European clubs will be in action today in the second leg of first qualifying round of the 2008 UEFA Europa League. Several teams from the United Kingdom and Ireland will be in action during this round of competition, with Manchester City one of the biggest draws in the early stages of the 2008 UEFA Europa League.

City are up against EB Streymur at home in their second leg of their UEFA Europa League qualifier, and are favourites to progress through to next qualifying round after defeating the Faroe Islands champions 2-0 in the opening match of their 2008/2009 UEFA Europa League campaign.

“We have the cushion of the two away goals so I would be surprised if we didn’t progress - and so would everyone else,” Manchester City manager Mark Hughes told reporters. “There is the concern about complacency but I don’t think that will be an issue.”

Irish side St. Patricks will also be in action tonight, and looking to add to their aggregate 1-0 score against Olimps. The clubs will be playing in Dublin, with home advantage certain to give the Irish the edge they need to progress through to the second qualifying round of the 2008/2009 UEFA Europa League.
